“Healing the Trauma of Palestinian Children on the West Bank and Gaza”

Since October 7, 2023, Palestinian children and youth have experienced unprecedented and escalating levels of violence and oppression in their everyday lives–while already carrying the weight of generational trauma. Three years ago, Palestinians in Bethlehem led by educator Rami Khader began to devise community-based methods for healing childhood trauma by coupling the arts with activities of structured play. They named their organization “Anar,” which means “to light up” in Arabic. Initially focused on children in the West Bank, Anar’s efforts now include Gaza.
Rami will share stories and videos from the West Bank and Gaza, offering evidence that healing for Palestinian children and their caregivers is possible. Please join us to learn about Anar’s on-the-ground accomplishments and hope-filled vision.
