Our forum will analyze how the agenda of pro-Israel lobby groups in the U.S. outweighs the will of the voters in ensuring nearly unconditional support for Israel. We will assess the growing partisan nature of the pro-Palestine movement, cautioning that it’s not best to let human rights in Palestine be defined as a “leftist” cause. In light of recent protests in Israel, we will assess the popular assumption that Israel is a democracy even though more than half the people under its power have no or limited political rights. Finally, we will contrast popular responses to the ongoing protest movement with reactions to the Palestinian BDS movement.
