Middle East Peace Now cordially invites you to “Protecting our right to dissent: A conversation with Rasmy Hassouna and Mik Jordahl” to explore the context and implications of state legislation designed to penalize individuals and companies that choose to boycott Israel due to its human rights record.

Passed in 33 states across the country — including Minnesota – these anti-boycott laws remove the legal protection that has been awarded to boycotts for generations, granting governments the power to condition jobs on political viewpoints. The event will feature a short introduction to Boycott, a new Just Vision film documenting the spread of these bills and the stories of courageous Americans challenging them in the courts. After viewing the short trailer to the film, we will have a conversation with Daniel Nerenberg, Just Vision’s Communications Associate; Mik Jordahl, plaintiff in the lawsuit that challenged Arizona’s anti-boycott law and protagonist in Boycott, and Rasmy Houssana, a Texas civil engineer who, through his firm A&R Engineering and Testing, refused to renew his contract with the state when he noticed a clause stipulating that his company would not engage in a boycott of Israel and filed suit against the state of Texas.

Please direct questions about this event to mepn@mepn.org.
