Christian Zionism and US Policy Toward Palestine
Jonathan Brenneman
10:00am CT presentation & discussion, co-sponsored by Friends of Sabeel North America
Online, via Zoom – REGISTER HERE (registration notes are at the bottom of this page)
Jonathan Brenneman, a Christian Palestinian-American activist, will share about the little understood force of Christian Zionism on US policy toward Palestine, possibly the most powerful “pro-Israel” force in America. Sharing personal stories and analysis, he will offer a unique perspective on why it is important to understand this ideology, and how to challenge it.
Jonathan is a Palestinian-American Christian and works as the Communications Manger for Friends of Sabeel North America (FOSNA), a nonviolent advocacy organization seeking justice and peace in Palestine and Israel. Jonathan participates in nonviolent social change, anti-oppression work, and direct action alongside his wife, Sarah. Jonathan is from the Great Lakes watershed growing up in St. Marys, OH (traditional Shawnee land) and has undergraduate degrees in History and Philosophy from Huntington University.
In 2016 he completed a Masters at the University of Notre Dame’s Kroc Institute for International Peace Studies, a program that included a six-month internship in Cape Town, South Africa with Ndifuna Ukwazi, an activist research organization that fights for more just land policies. Before attending Notre Dame, Jonathan was part of Christian Peacemaker Teams Palestine project in Hebron/Al-Khalil, where he worked in solidarity with Palestinian communities to challenge unjust Israeli policies and the structures that uphold them. Today he continues his advocacy in the United States with FOSNA focusing on challenging Christian Zionist theology.
