Resources from a Jewish perspective for peace with justice

Jewish liberation as park of Palestinian liberation

The creation of the state of Israel has changed the nature of the Jewish world. The Holocaust caused the heart of the Jewish world to be torn out; the non-Zionist streams in the Diaspora were destroyed. It seemed to many that Palestine provided the only hope for Jews. As a result, in the 125 years of Zionist settlement in Palestine, a new people has emerged – Israeli  Jews most of whom are native born.  As part of that and an ideology of ein briera – no alternative for Jewish survival other than this highly militarized state has been forced on both Israeli Jews and Jews in the Diaspora, with the latter being instructed to be nothing more than a cheering section for whatever the current Israeli government wants to do.

In Israel this means that a large majority of the youth serve as soldiers in the Israeli military. In the Diaspora the Israeli government, through its influence on major Jewish institutions in the United States including most of the synagogues, enforces a strict ideological control in Jewish basis.

As part of the liberation for all people from the river to the sea, which understands Israeli Jews are not going anywhere, the Jewish liberation from this ideological straitjacket of militarism and oppression of the Palestinians will free the Jewish youth from conscription into an occupation army and will liberate the Diaspora Jews from the ideological straitjacket of Zionism.
